Re: LOTR Trilogy- Extended - Blu-ray
Ug, this is not the set I want at all. The special features are still on DVD and the films are not on one BD disk. I think I will stick with my regular blus for now, as this is just a placeholder edition until PJ himself makes the omega cut. Notice that the box says "Limited extended edition"
I find the price to be pretty outrageous as well, even at $84, the Star Wars set is $90 and it has all 6 movies. Not to mention you are getting more DVDs in this set than Blu-ray disks, $84 is pretty insulting.

Re: LOTR Trilogy- Extended - Blu-ray
I may pass on this as well, as I now have the TE and EE on dvd, at least one film on vhs, the version with the costa botes docs, and the TE blurays. If there's a really good deal on it, or there really is no "omega" edition, then maybe.

Re: LOTR Trilogy- Extended - Blu-ray
I guess, I'll have to get around to buying a Blu ray player.

Re: LOTR Trilogy- Extended - Blu-ray
I have the regular trilogy on blu so I'm waiting for PJ's cut. and there have been massive debates on the Internets that FOTR now has a green tint. So until PJ himself sits down and does a set, its a no buy. And putting the special features on DVD is just insulting.

Re: LOTR Trilogy- Extended - Blu-ray
Is there any confirmation that one day there will be a PJ cut or is that just wishful thinking? I may have missed that, and if so, this set is a no go. In terms of the special features on DVD... Meh, I don't really watch those for the incredible picture quality, and depending on how they were filmed, there may be no benefit to BD over DVD. I freely admit that I don't know either way.

Its been a rumor for quite a while now, there is footage that never made it into the EE and of course the infamous bloopers.

Re: LOTR Trilogy- Extended - Blu-ray
Hmmm. That does kind of change things. I had thought that the EE was what PJ wanted back in the story.

Re: LOTR Trilogy- Extended - Blu-ray
I am passing, so far, as I have the TE BD and Costa Botes docs on DVD already (unless this is a different version?). I would LOOOOOVE to see the rest of the bloopers! I have seen very little snippets here and there, and they are so funny! I've also heard of this green tint, though I'd have to see it to judge, but, I have always thought my SSW Arwen statue had a green tint, so maybe I'm not the best person to ask.

Re: LOTR Trilogy- Extended - Blu-ray
Now that there are out, does anybody have them? I have one question before dropping $100 bucks on something I already have: is each entire EE film on a single disc? Because it would be worth it to me to be able to watch the EEs one film at a time without monkeying with changing discs, but if they ARE on two discs like the first EE issuances, I don't see much need to buy them.
...Although to mine LOTR-swag-starved eyes, the pewter figurines in the Best Buy exclusive set look pretty damn sweet, if I do say so myself.

Re: LOTR Trilogy- Extended - Blu-ray
The films are still split onto two discs each. Honestly, I think it's nice having the built in intermission, but I can see the frustration.

Re: LOTR Trilogy- Extended - Blu-ray
A good while on from these original posts and I can say that buying the EE blu rays was one of the nest descisions that I ever made. It was like watching the films all anew. I didn't see an issue with the fellowship and I must say that RotK was particularly splendid!
